A review of how distrust was established among communities of color and the medical community, steps taken to prevent such abuses and what actions need to be continued in order improve both the provision of care and health outcomes.
Presenter: Marya Shegog, PhD, MPH, CHES
Dr. Marya Shegog is a Public Health Professional that focuses on creating health equity and dismantling health disparities. She strives for community centered actions in the development of equitable health policy, legislation, and regulations. As the Health Equity and Diversity Director for Lazarex Cancer Foundation, she advocates for a health care system where cancer clinical trials are accessible to everyone in a humane, informed, culturally and linguistically appropriate way.
