Foreign Language Placement Exams will be offered on selected dates during Welcome Week 2021 in anticipation of a full return to campus Monday August 23.  

For exams offered during Welcome Week, advance registration is required.  Please check back for registration link(s).

Students new to USC will continue to be placed according to a protocol that includes previous foreign language study, grades, and other factors. If you would like direct placement into a foreign language course for Fall 2021, please Contact the language@usc.  Be sure to include your USCID number and the language into which you would like to be placed.

Registering for the Exam

Advance registration is mandatory, as capacity limits are still enforced during Welcome Week exams.

Click on the link(s) below to register for (an) in-person placement exam(s) during Welcome Week. Please note:

• You may take only one exam at the day/time for which you register.
• If you miss the exam for which you register, you cannot sign up for another exam during Welcome Week.
• You must bring your USC ID to the exam.
• There is no fee for taking a placement exam.
• Arrive at least ten minutes before the exam starts.
• Exams can take up to two hours, so plan accordingly.
