Dive deeper into Cai Guo-Qiang: A Material Odyssey with an exclusive gallery talk by the exhibition lead curator Rachel Rivenc, head of Conservation and Preservation at the Getty Research Institute.

Cai Guo-Qiang: A Material Odyssey is a journey through the artist’s four-decade career creating paintings and drawings with an explosive material: gunpowder. Cai embraces the unpredictable energy of gunpowder to bridge the gap between what he describes as the “seen and unseen” world.
