"Game Kits: Reproducing Interactive Blockbooks and Movable Incunables"
A surprising number of fifteenth-century prints and books with game-like moving parts survive, more or less intact. This talk will discuss the unusual printing history of a group of these calendars, fortune-telling games, and optical toys that would be reproduced along with their movable dials in early twentieth-century Germany.
