The EMSI British History seminar invites you to a special celebration in honor of a new book by Vanessa Wilkie, William A. Moffett Senior Curator of Medieval Manuscripts and British History and Head of Library Curatorial at the Huntington Library. Wilkie's book, Woman of Influence: The Spectacular Rise of Alice Spencer in Tudor England tells the true story of how Alice Spencer became one of the most powerful women in England in the late 16th–early 17th century and established an enduring family dynasty.
