https://dornsife.usc.edu/emsi/seminar-series/american-origins/Brett Rushforth, Associate Professor of Black Studies and History at University of Oregon will meet with the American Origins seminar to present "Diverse Progenies and Lineages: Africans and Native Americans in Sixteenth Century France." This paper relates to Rushforth's current book project with Christopher Hodson, titled Discovering Empire: France and the Atlantic World from the Age of Discovery to the Age of Revolutions, which explores the relationships between Africans, Native Americans, and Europeans across four centuries, from roughly 1400 through Haitian independence in 1804.
