The USC-Huntington Early Modern Studies Institute Renaissance Literature Seminar will meet with Abdulhamit Arvas, Assistant Professor of English at the University of Pennsylvania, on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Professor Arvas's research focuses on early modern literature and culture, comparative histories of sexuality and race, queer studies, trans history, cross-cultural encounters, and Islam in the Renaissance. His seminar paper title is "Sex and Race in Translation: The Case of al-Hasan al-Wazzan/Leo Africanus."
