EASC Guest Speaker Series: Hung-Yok Ip and Jessica Zu
Professor Hung-Yok Ip teaches East Asian and World History at Oregon State University. Her research areas include the Chinese Communist revolution, women and gender in modern China, modern Chinese Buddhism, Engaged Buddhism, Mohism, and nonviolence and conflict resolution. She has published a couple of books, including Leaders, Heroes and Sophisticates: Intellectuals in Revolutionary China (Routledge, 2005) and Grassroots Activism of Ancient China: Mohism and Nonviolence (Lexington Books, 2022), in addition to editing or co-editing two volumes. She is now working on a book manuscript on the imaginings of suffering and Buddhism in modern and contemporary China.
