Brought to you by the Defense Strategy Institute.

The 5th Annual Military Additive Manufacturing Summit is designed as an educational “Town Hall” forum, where thought leaders & key policy-makers across military services, defense agencies, & civilian organizations can come together for actionable discussions & debate. This year’s Summit will focus on the latest 3D printing technologies being developed & the push across the DoD to provide rapid equipment to the Warfighter on the battlefield. Additive manufacturing innovations are being utilized to increase the current level of capability and reduce the cost of parts, in order to deliver greater operational flexibility to the Warfighter and further enhance the defense industrial base.

The Military Additive Manufacturing Summit will bring together key senior leaders and acquisition authorities from across military services, defense agencies, & civilian organizations in a ‘town-hall’ setting to discuss how this revolutionary technology has real value and is being recognized for its multiple use cases. As Secretary of the Army, the Honorable Ryan McCarthy put it, “Advanced manufacturing will fundamentally change the way the Army designs, delivers, produces, and sustains materiel capabilities.” This year’s Summit will detail the current push across the DoD to rapidly deliver effective equipment to the Warfighter on the battlefield. Advances in additive manufacturing are being utilized to boost the current level of capability and lower the cost of parts, in order to provide the Warfighter with greater operational flexibility.

This event will examine current collaborative efforts by DoD to leverage commercial applications of additive manufacturing technologies to further enhance the defense industrial base. 3D printing materials and processes give Military commands & defense agencies the opportunity to modernize their supply chains at scale, increase the size, weight, & power (SWAP) of their platforms/weapons systems, & enable the Warfighter to efficiently replace parts in a shorter amount of time. Senior leaders from across the services will offer their perspective on their overall goals to use 3D printing capabilities to enhance materiel readiness & guide mission success.

Attendees at this summit will have the chance to network and learn about the emerging benefits of additive manufacturing technologies such as: facilitating additive integration into the logistics enterprise, allowing for the production of complex parts that cannot be manufactured using traditional processes, & improving quality control, predictive maintenance, and automatic ordering of supplies. Additionally, the growth of 3D printers, particularly 3D metal printers, are helping to expand the production of strong, complex parts, in order to improve overall combat readiness.
