About this Event
While Domestic Violence can affect all members of the Black community, those that have intersectional identities rooted in other marginalized groups are particularly vulnerable. The National Black Women's Health Project identifies domestic violence as the number one public health issue for African-American women, and due to homophobia and violence, Black trans women have a life expectancy of 35. The purpose of this discussion is to address the ways in which Domestic Violence is perpetuated in the Black community, and the barriers Black people face when reporting. Panelists include Dr. Brenda Ingram, Director of Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention and Services, and Dr. Deirdre Logan, USC Student Health gynecologist and former Chief Physician of Watts Healthcare Corporation’s Obstetrics and Gynecology department. We invite you to join us on Friday, October 16th from 12pm-1:30pm via Zoom.
This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.
