Digital Gold in the Physical World: Cryptocurrency and the Law

In collaboration with ITP Viterbi School of Engineering , come and learn from Bitcoin expert, Marta Belcher, who will present about bitcoin/blockchain 101, uses for blockchain beyond currency, major news items surrounding bitboin/blockchain in the past several years, and bitcoin and the law. 

Marta Belcher is a technology and intellectual property attorney at Ropes & Gray LLP in the Silicon Valley and the co-author of "Defensive Patenting Strategies for Blockchain Innovators." Marta represents blockchain-focused technology companies in intellectual property matters and has participated in industry-wide discussions about blockchain patenting. She is a frequent speaker on the intersection of blockchain technology and the law, including recently presenting about cryptocurrency regulation at CryptoHQ in Davos during the World Economic Forum. Marta is an alum of Stanford Law School, U.C. Berkeley, Apple, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation. She has been named a “Huffington Post Greatest Person of the Day” and has been featured in Forbes.
