Virtual Event

Join us on zoom for a live yoga class from Fisher, surrounded by the works from the exhibition Art & Hope at the end of the Tunnel. The class will center on Dharma Yoga which is a form of classical Hatha-Raja. Certified yoga instructor Siwen Xi, will guide you through physical posture practice (asanas), deep healing relaxation, breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditative techniques. Through the practice, one will slow down the thought, calm the mind, and recharge the physical body. Dharma yoga is a devotional practice that emphasizes good health, a clear mind, and a kind heart. This class is suitable for all levels.

About the instructor:

Siwen Xi is a certified yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance in Dharma Yoga (a classical Hatha-Raja Yoga), Yin Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga, and Children Yoga. She started her journey of yoga and meditation in 2010 when she was in high school suffering from anxiety due to auditions and exams, as well as distress about the future as a teenager. She found her inner peace from yoga practice and meditation. In 2016, she gained the opportunity to study yoga with Sri Dharma Mittra. Influenced by him, she has a deeper understanding of yoga as a lifestyle, as a path to self-realization. Apart from teaching yoga, she is now pursuing her doctoral degree in Music Teaching and Learning at USC’s Thornton School of Music as well as a Japanese koto performer.

More about Dharma Yoga:

Dharma Yoga is a modern interpretation of classical eight-limbed or Hatha-Raja Yoga, created in 1975 by Sri Dharma Mittra, a guru of modern yoga.

Each of the four series contains physical posture practice (asanas), deep healing relaxation, breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditative techniques. Dharma Yoga is a devotional practice that emphasizes radiant health, peaceful life, and, eventually self-realization. It is graceful, yet challenging based on Sri Dharma Mittra's over fifty years of devotion to yoga practice and teaching. www.dharmayogacenter.com
