California is home to a large community of Russian-born and Ukrainian-born immigrants. Today the members of these once closely-knit communities are struggling to cope with the devastating and divisive war in Ukraine. Join us in a conversation with Beth Meyerowitz, USC Professor Emerita of Psychology, and Hazel Atuel, USC Research Associate Professor of Psychology who will discuss the importance of understanding and acknowledging the effects of the psychological trauma resulting from the humanitarian toll of this war. This panel will also touch upon the implications of coping with trauma, the impact of trauma on cultural identity, and resilience.
