DESCRIPTION:Join us for a conversation with acclaimed choreographer D. Chas
e Angier and talented designer\, teacher\, and co-curator of Scene Shift:
The Exhibit\, Maureen Weiss. They will share insight into the collaborativ
e process between choreographers and designers in the realm of performance
design. Together they will explore the journey of creating the piece “L
etters to the World” co-created by Angier\, designer Markéta Fantová\,
and artist Evelyne Leblanc Roberge. Learn how the visual world influences
Angier’s choreography and her artistic practice.\n\n \n\nAbout the Spea
 ker:\n\nD. Chase Angier – Choreographer\, Professor\, Curator\, and Arts
Advocate. D. Chase Angier is the Artistic Director of Angier Performance
Works based in New York State. Angier Performance Works are created in col
laboration with artists in the visual\, scenographic\, and performing arts
and have been exhibited internationally (Japan\, Czech Republic\, Germany
\, Mexico\, The United Kingdom\, Iceland\, France) and nationally in theat
ers\, galleries\, and visually inspiring sites. These movement-based perfo
rmances\, often situated in nontheatrical settings\, explore questions of
interconnectivity creating visually textured and feeling-forward performan
ce works. Angier is a Professor of Dance in the School of Art and Design +
Performing Arts Division at Alfred University in New York State and has c
ollaboratively developed a dance program based on creative place-making\,
interdisciplinary performance\, and composition. As the Director of the Ma
rlin Miller Dance Residency Program and a board member of the NY State Dan
ceForce partner of NYSCA\, Angier curates/presents artists from around the
world to engage with audiences in rural NY. She has been a speaker and wo
rkshop educator for several Prague Quadrennials with scenographer and PQ D
irector Marketa Fantova combining choreography and design since 2011\, co-
curated the 2019 PQ Formations with scenographer Serge Von Arx\, and was a
n International Juror for the PQ 2023 Countries and Regions Scenography Ex
 hibitions.\n\nwww.angierperformanceworks.com\n\n \n\nAbout the Exhibition:
\nScene Shift: The Exhibit is a chance for the audience to get up close an
d personal with the work of contemporary scenic designers. Every designer
has a different story to tell\, sometimes that story is translated into ar
t\, and sometimes it is theatre. On view from February 2\, 2024 through Ap
ril 6\, 2024.\n\nInspired by the book\, Scene Shift: US Set Designers in C
onversation\, the exhibition will feature work by Abigail DeVille\, Regina
  Garcia\, Marsha Ginsberg\, Shing Yin Khor\, Mimi Lien\, Collette Pollard\
, and Deb O among others.\n\nThis exhibition is curated by Maureen Weiss a
nd Sibyl Wickersheimer.\n\n \n\nIndividuals with disabilities who need acc
