Last chance to view the exhibition Dan McCleary: OAXACA 20 Years of Prints from the Taller Sanfer. Artist Dan McCleary will lead a walkthrough followed by refreshments.

About the exhibition:

Twenty-two years ago, Los Angeles artist Dan McCleary was introduced to Oaxaca by friends and fellow artists, James hd Brown and Alexandra Brown. Two years later, he committed himself to work with legendary printmaker Fernando Sandoval. He found himself challenged by etching techniques that were new to him. The colorist painter of Los Angeles here dedicated himself to creating mostly black and white works in etching and aquatint. “Dan McCleary: Oaxaca” is an exploration of this 20-year (and ongoing) experience of printmaking.

About the Artist:

Dan McCleary is a Los Angeles-based artist who paints figure scenes and still lifes of seductive beauty, drawing upon his deep knowledge of revered masters of the past. During an acclaimed exhibition at the USC Fisher Museum of Art in 2015, the Los Angeles Times described him as “among the finest figurative painters working today.” His prints were the subject of the 2017 exhibition Dan McCleary: Prints from Oaxaca at Laguna Art Museum. In addition to his work as a painter, McCleary is the founder and director of Art Division, an arts program for under-served young adults.

This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.
