“Past and Present Dynamics of Populism Cycles”
Professor Edwards will explain how many of the characteristics of traditional Latin American populism are also present in most recent manifestations from around the globe.
Sebastian Edwards is the Henry Ford II Professor of International Economics at UCLA. He is the co-director of the National Bureau of Economic Research’s “Africa Project” and previously served as the chief economist for Latin America at the World Bank. He is the author most recently of American Default: The Untold Story of FDR, the Supreme Court, and the Battle over Gold, published by Princeton University Press in 2018.
