graphic practices and draws upon the contemporary conditions of western env
irons\, engaging with the degradation that is endemic to post-industrial la
ndscapes. Photographs taken at Californian water locations—including the Sa
lton Sea\, Death Valley\, Catalina Island\, and the California coast—are de
veloped into prints through the integration of materials from these sites a
nd experimental techniques. The sampled materials act as a medium for showc
asing the present state of these distinct terrains. Through the use of conc
eptual photography\, the exhibition examines tangible and abstract remnants
of the reciprocal exchanges between people and their environment.\n\n \n\n
ABOUT THE ARTIST\n\nCallianne Jones is an interdisciplinary artist whose wo
rk is rooted in environmental documentation as it relates to contemporary g
eospatial dynamics. Using a research-based approach\, she investigates the
contextualization of ever-changing terrains through photographic means. Thr
ough her work\, she explores the mutual imprints individuals and the enviro
nment leave on one another\, creating work that engages with both the mater
ial and conceptual traces of these interactions. Jones studied at the Unive
rsity of Minnesota and holds a B.F.A. in Art and a B.S.B. in Marketing. She
is currently a fellow at the Center for Ethnographic Media Arts and is sup
ported by the Wrigley Institute for Environment and Sustainability at the U
