Thursday, October 25, 2018
4:00 – 5:00p.m.
The Huntington
Ahmanson Room, Botanical Center
From its historic protection of Yosemite in 1864 to its contemporary initiatives to address the risks of global climate change, California has long been on the cutting edge of environmental policy leadership and innovation in the United States. In this ongoing autumn series exploring modern environmentalism sponsored by the Huntington-USC Institute on California and the West, David Vogel (professor emeritus, Dept. of Political Science and Haas School of Business Ethics, UC Berkeley) will describe and explain California's "greening" emphasizing the role played by its distinctive geography, citizen mobilization and business interests that stood to benefit from protecting the state's natural attractiveness.
