Doheny Memorial Library (DML), 240
3550 Trousdale Parkway, Los Angeles, CA 90089

Join us for a lecture exploring Los Angeles of one hundred and thirty years ago. The year of the founding of the Ruskin Art Club, 1888 is an especially apt year for examining the city poised on all manner of adolescent cusps: growth, identity, ambition, as well as self-doubt, anxiety, and boundless energy, for both good and ill.

William Deverell is Director of the Huntington-USC Institute on California and the West and Professor of History at USC. He is a historian of the 19th and 20th century American West. MORE
