This event will feature linguist Ross Perlin discussing his 2024 book Language City: The Fight to Preserve Endangered Mother Tongues in New York, which won the British Academy Book Prize and the New York City Book Award, was longlisted for the Carnegie Medal, and was named a New York Times Notable Book. Perlin will be in conversation with English Professor David L. Ulin about a range of subjects, including the aesthetics of research nonfiction, the social fabric of urban communities and the necessity of protecting endangered languages.
After the conversation, there will be an audience Q&A.
