Dr. Kyla Walters is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Sonoma State University whose expertise lies in education politics, labor and work, race, gender, social movements, and teaching. Dr. Walters has also written her own book regarding the ballot question in 2016 which proposed to allow a dramatic increase in the number of charter schools in the state of Massachusetts. 

Dr. Walters will be speaking on the nature of public education, charter school inequalities, and how those topics are intertwined with class, race, and gender. 

This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.
