Archaeology Around the World Series - From Maynila to Manila: How a European City Functioned in Maritime Aria

Monday, April 17, 2017 at 5:00pm

Ahmanson Center (ACB), 238
825 Bloom Walk , Los Angeles, CA 90089

Come join speaker Ellen Hsieh as she re-evaluates the role of Manila during the 16th century and on. Manila is widely studied and understood as a hub for trade and exchange between the New World and Asia, yet the colony that existed within Manila was widely overlooked. Using what remains, Ellen Hsieh will offer a new means of looking at this European colony within the context of the early modern globalization era.
