Please join The Department of Gender & Sexuality Studies and The Consortium for Gender, Sexuality, Race, and Public Culture for our Spring Scholar-in-Residence Dr. Clara Bradbury-Rance events consisting of a talk, "Anxious Masculinities: Lesbian Film & Lesbian Film Studies in 2024” and a graduate writing workshop. Clara Bradbury-Rance is a Senior Lecturer of Gender and Sexuality Studies at King's College London.  She is the author of Lesbian Cinema after Queer Theorywhich was published by Edinburgh University Press and translated into Spanish by Osífragos (both 2019). 
 

Bio: Clara Bradbury-Rance is a Senior Lecturer in Gender and Sexuality Studies in the Department

of Liberal Arts at King’s College London. She is the author of Lesbian Cinema after Queer Theorywhich was published by Edinburgh University Press and translated into Spanish by Osífragos (both 2019). Clara has published widely on feminist and queer film and media, including essays on feminist citational practice, Netflix and queer taste, cinephilia, queer adolescence, adaptation, postfeminism, the lesbian sex scene and the work of filmmakers such as Dee Rees, Lisa Cholodenko and Céline Sciamma. Her academic writing has appeared in the journals Camera Obscura, French Screen Studies, Feminist Media Studies, MAI: Feminism and Visual Culture, Feminist Pedagogy, Feminist Theory, New Review of Film and Television Studies and Film Quarterly (forthcoming). Clara’s film reviews are published by regular Sight and Sound magazine. She regularly collaborates with the queer feminist curatorial collective Club des Femmes. Clara is currently working on two new book projects: a personal study of ambivalent masculinities in contemporary screen cultures, and a short volume for the British Film Institute’s “BFI Classics” series on Portrait of a Lady on Fire.
