About this Event
This Virtual panel discussion will explore how anti-Jewish representations and misinformation have been used in
video games and social media either as an inadvertent byproduct of game development from mainstream
publishers, or as a deliberate use of propaganda from international entities on independent platforms. Our expert
panelists will also discuss antisemitism in the realm of social media such as LinkedIn and Facebook, and online
forums including 4chan and Reddit, and how some companies don't follow their own regulatory guidelines.
In addition, our panelists will analyze cyberpsychology to identify common antisemitic tropes. They will suggest
self-protective measures for social engineering and other steps starting within the Jewish community. They will
conclude by highlighting the societal challenges facing platforms and the potential tools to ethically and legally
safeguard games, social media and other technologies in ways that do not violate the First Amendment.
This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.
