DESCRIPTION:
Acclaimed author John Avlon is the editor-in-chief of The Daily Beast and a CNN political analyst. His books include Independent Nation: How Centrists Can Change American Politics and Washington’s Farewell: The Founding Father’s Warning to Future Generations. Previously, he was a columnist and associate editor for the New York Sun and chief speechwriter for New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Avlon has been praised for his comprehensive review and analysis of the political spectrum and what shapes the political debates of today. He is also a co-founder of No Labels, a group of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents dedicated to the politics of problem-solving in government. Following an introduction by USC President C. L. Max Nikias, Avlon will discuss politics, journalism, and contemporary culture in the United States.
