Co-founded by former USC Thornton School of Music faculty Dr. Thom Mason and former student Roberto Miranda in the mid-1980s and now led by Aarón Serfaty, USC Thornton’s Afro-Latin American Jazz Ensemble (ALAJE) performs salsa—rooted in the music of Cuba and Puerto Rico and evolving out of the interactions of Latin players and jazz musicians in New York City.

This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.
