The Air Force SBIDs focus on small business capabilities and opportunities, matching stakeholders from the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), large business, and small business communities. This event emphasizes small business capabilities that provide new concepts, highlight existing small business products, promote collaboration, and integrate small businesses’ services, products, and technologies into AF SMC's normal way of doing business.
The mission of SMC is to deliver resilient and affordable space capabilities. The center is responsible for on-orbit check-out, testing, sustainment and maintenance of military satellite constellations and other Department of Defense space systems. SMC's portfolio includes GPS, military satellite communications, defense meteorological satellites, space launch and range systems, satellite control networks; space based infrared systems and space situational awareness capabilities.
The 2016 AF SMC SBID takes place October 18-20, 2016, in Los Angeles, CA, with a combination of informational briefings and speakers, as well as one-on-ones between small businesses and government POCs. This event focuses on increasing the AF SMC's small business supply chain, as well as matching program office technology based needs to SBIR/STTR/RIF developed technologies that accelerate transition onto AF platforms.
