Presented by the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy and the Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work

This 8-hour workshop is facilitated by the Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE). It provides an introduction to the role, responsibilities, and strategies for students, administrators, faculty, and staff seeking to advance racial equity and opportunities for all.

Using facilitated discussions, interactive exercises, and videos,  participants will be introduced to a racial equity tool that can be used in decision-making relating to policies, practices, programs, budget development, and sharing effective communications strategies.

We focus on:

  • normalizing racial equity as a core value with clear definitions of key terms,
  • operationalizing racial equity via policies and institutional practices, and
  • organizing partnerships, both internally and externally with other institutions and the community.

Participants gain awareness of:

  • The history of race and how structural racism impacts the workplace
  • Implicit and explicit bias
  • Ways to identify and address institutional and structural racism
  • Increase capacity to create and advance a racial equity culture.

Please make sure to RSVP as breakfast and lunch will be provided. If you have any questions, please contact David Gardinier ([email protected]).

This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.
