DESCRIPTION:  
Gain a new perspective on Greek and Trojan imagery throughout the USC campus in a one-hour walking tour led by Ruth Wallach, a public art historian and Associate Dean of the USC Libraries. Wallach will share the histories and origins of Tommy Trojan, Hecuba, and other cherished statues, sculptures, and public art that we see every day, examining and reimagining their symbolism with the values of today’s campus community. 

The tour, which will be led twice, is presented in conjunction with an exhibition at Doheny Memorial Library (check back for more information) and “About Face: Women, War, and Re-envisioning Troy,” which includes short plays by USC students and a conversation with noted playwrights and scholars.

Bio:  

Ruth Wallach is the Associate Dean for the Social Sciences and Humanities Libraries Division and has held other roles within USC Libraries including Director of Arts and Humanities Division and Head of Helen Topping Architecture and Fine Arts Library. She has researched and written extensively on the history and architecture of Los Angeles. Some of her books include Los Angeles Residential Architecture: Modernism Meets Eclecticism  and Miracle Mile of Los Angeles: History and Architecture.
