GPI cordially invites all students to join us in virtually celebrating the International Week of Social Justice with keynote speaker Sally Roever on Wednesday, February 17 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. PST.
Sally Roever is the international coordinator for WIEGO — Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing. WIEGO is a global research, policy and advocacy network focused on empowering the working poor, especially women, who are securing their livelihoods in informal economies around the world. WIEGO promotes equal economic opportunity, rights, protection and voice for workers. The organization was founded in 1997, and now has membership in over 40 countries.
Sally has 20 years of experience studying the ways in which laws, politics and politics shape informal global workers' organizations. She is currently located in Washington D.C. and graduated from the USC School of International Relations in 1994. She received her PhD in Political Science from UC Berkeley in 2005.
