http://gould.usc.edu/centers/clhc/events/feature/featured_workshops.cfmPlease join us for the 15th Annual CLHC Law and Humanities Distinguished Lecture featuring Robin West (Frederick J. Haas Professor of Law and Philosophy at Georgetown University).
With the help of some contemporary literature, the talk will suggest that Law is not hostile to human sentiment, as it is often popularly presented, and nor does it simply accommodate or insulate private sentiments that originate in the home and hearth, as suggested by most liberal legal philosophers. Rather, law actively and directly produces sentiments in its subjects. That law produces those sentiments is a significant if overlooked aspect of law's threat and law's virtue.
