EXHIBITION STATEMENT

I’ve made about care, in a few different modes and mediums, for my thesis show; and I invite you to celebrate this accomplishment with me. There is a layering of process and ideas preset my practice. I’m pouring much of myself into the work in the hopes that I can provide entry points for other people look in. Maybe I am also erasing exits to keep people closer longer. It is a confusing mess where I am trying to move painting just a little bit into a different space, and hoping that my intention will be recognized.
A rescuing happening in my compositions that mirror this desire. In my day to day life am searching for toys at thrift stores and estate sales, looking for the ones that seem to ask for another chance. Some of them remind me of the friendships in my life, qualities in people I admire. In the paintings I cast them in they can find vitality in still life.
I’ve regretted skipping celebrations before, I didn’t walk during both high school and undergrad commencement; I didn’t feel like I was worth them. I’ve let go of that regret to become kinder. Being gifted this gallery space, this blank cube, gives me the opportunity to do something to capstone my Master’s degree. Come read what I’ve written, share space with the images I’ve authored, and together we can make this room significant.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Photography is not meant to remain stable, but held within materials that transform, dissolve, and reform.

When the world becomes unstable, our minds mirror that instability. In moments when something larger is unraveling around us, we cling to some unspoken pact with some unknown force to simply keep going. We continue to work within that tension between everyday life and the quiet, persistent sense of urgency.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Photography is not meant to remain stable, but held within materials that transform, dissolve, and reform. The works exist in a constant state of transition, echoing the rhythms of nature, where nothing is fixed for long. What appears slowly fades, and what fades leaves a trace. Movement through the space activates these shifts, situating the human presence within an evolving field of change.

Some of them remind me of the friendships in my life, qualities in people I admire. In the paintings I cast them in they can find vitality in still life.

The works exist in a constant state of transition, echoing the rhythms of nature, where nothing is fixed for long. What appears slowly fades, and what fades leaves a trace. Movement through the space activates these shifts, situating the human presence within an evolving field of change.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

When the world becomes unstable, our minds mirror that instability. In moments when something larger is unraveling around us, we cling to some unspoken pact with some unknown force to simply keep going. We continue to work within that tension between everyday life and the quiet, persistent sense of urgency.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

When the world becomes unstable, our minds mirror that instability. In moments when something larger is unraveling around us, we cling to some unspoken pact with some unknown force to simply keep going. We continue to work within that tension between everyday life and the quiet, persistent sense of urgency.
