Dr. Steve Casper (Keck Graduate Institute)
Sponsored by LA Bioscience Hub and HTE@USC

Each year, university scientists invent thousands of new methods and products that can conceivably be turned into commercial services and products. Very few of these inventions, however, have commercial success. What makes a life science technology commercially attractive? The goal of this talk is to introduce practicing scientists to simple tools and concepts that are commonly used by investors and companies to gauge the commercial attractiveness of life science discoveries. Dr. Casper will discuss several biomedical inventions that became commercially successful, as well as some that did not.

The Biotech Entrepreneurship Coalition aims to increase entrepreneurship education for biomedical scientists in LA. The BEC is led by BCLA and includes Lab Launch Inc, CLSA, Biocom, LA Bioscience Hub, The City of Los Angeles, and LAEDC. Please contact  marie@lablaunch.org  for more information.
