DESCRIPTION:
Join us for a screening of the powerful and important film, The Big Lie: American Addict 2. From the makers of the hit documentary American Addict, The Big Lie picks up where the first film left off and breaks even more new ground. Director Sasha Knezev conducts candid interviews with politicians, celebrities, and physicians, including executive producer of the film, Gregory A. Smith, MD. The film reveals the effects of addiction on society, links between certain medications and crime, and the compelling and unbelievable stories of everyday people that have become addicted to prescription drugs and others who have become prescription drug dealers.

Director Sasha Knezev says that the film “digs deeper into the world of corruption, politics, and pharmaceutical greed.” Featuring Matthew Perry, Jonathan Davis, Ron Paul, and Dennis Kucinich, the film offers an eye-opening examination of America's deadly dependency with prescription medication.

The screening will be followed by a conversation with filmmaker Sasha Knezev and physician and executive producer Gregory A. Smith.

Presented in conjunction with “Addiction in America,” a panel discussion that will be presented on January 24 as part of the Provost’s Series on Wicked Problems. Established by Provost Michael Quick, the series brings together special guests and USC faculty to discuss the most intractable, multifaceted problems of our time.
