Sephardi and Mizrahi Jews in America: Diverse Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Perspectives

This 2016 Burton Lewis Lecture is a joint presentation by the USC Casden Institute, the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles, and the UCLA Center for Jewish Studies. A dessert reception will precede the panel discussion at 6:30PM.

It will feature a lively panel discussion featuring prominent members of the Los Angeles Sephardic Jewish community and moderated by Dr. Saba Soomekh, Associate Director of research at UCLA's Alan D. Leve Center for Jewish Studies. The panel will consist of prominent academics, artists, writers, and civic and religious leaders who will discuss the Sephardi and Mizrahi experience in America exploring such topics as language, literature, art, Diaspora identity, and civic and political engagement.
