The SHOT2 program is an academic moonshot that will provide participants with TED-talk-styled fundamental instruction from top experts as well as hands-on training in three of the hottest fields: Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Mechanics and Mixed Reality. The last section of the program consists of two, 2-day scientific hackathons. Before we get there, though, a series of lectures will get participants ready.

We're on to our fifth and final introductory lecture - this will conclude Phase 1! This "105" is on Neuroscience and Artificial Intelligence. It will be jointly delivered by two of our own: Erick Moen and Debarun KarErick Moen, one of the MHI scholars, is a PhD student in Prof. Andrea Armani's lab who will be graduating this spring. Winner of this year's Best Dissertation Pitch at the MHI Research Festival, his multi-disciplinary research efforts range from nonlinear optics and biophysics to high-performance computing and immersive data visualization.

Our second speaker, Debarun Kar, is a PhD candidate in the Computer Science department in the Teamcore Research group directed by Prof. Milind Tambe. Debarun's research is in the field of AI and machine learning, with an emphasis on computational and behavioral game theory.  He is particularly interested in applications of his work to security and sustainability domains. He has co-authored multiple papers on learning in security games that have been presented at Top AI Conferences like AAMAS and AAAI. Both of our speakers have a keen interest in teaching and sharing their knowledge.

This program is open to ALL levels of education and ALL majors. And, while we encourage participation throughout the program, there is no “mandatory” section, so you can tailor your attendance to suit your specific goals.
