Polish Music Center: Exploring the Avant-Garde

Saturday, March 25 at 4:00pm to 9:30pm

Newman Recital Hall (AHF)
3616 Trousdale Parkway, Los Angeles, CA 90089

The adventurous gnarwhallaby ensemble uncovers facets of avant-garde expression in contemporary Polish music in works from such visionary composers as Tadeusz Baird, Henryk Mikolaj Górecki, Hanna Kulenty, Krzysztof Meyer, Bogusław Schaeffer, and Witold Szalonek. The concert will feature the world premiere of Meyer's Quattro Colori.

Inspired by the unusual instrumentation of the Polish ‘Warsztat Muzyczny’ ensemble of the 1960s, gnarwhallaby performs repertoire for clarinet, trombone, cello, and piano.

A reception follows the performance.
